The Challenge

The House and Homestead, founded by Anna Sakawsky, is a platform dedicated to modern homesteading, offering resources on gardening, cooking, preserving, and sustainable living. The primary challenge was to create a website that authentically reflects Anna’s journey from a tech-centric lifestyle to embracing self-sufficiency, while engaging a diverse audience interested in homesteading practices.

The site needed to seamlessly integrate educational content, community engagement features, and e-commerce elements, all while maintaining a cohesive brand identity that resonates with the values of simplicity, sustainability, and independence. The new website aims to inspire and empower individuals to reclaim their independence and embark on their own homesteading journeys.

Web Development & Design: Extending the Brand Message Online

Our approach began with a thorough understanding of The House and Homestead’s mission, audience, and content offerings. The platform caters to individuals ranging from beginners to seasoned homesteaders, all seeking knowledge and community.

We reviewed existing content, including articles, tutorials, and product offerings, to identify key areas for enhancement. Collaborating closely with Anna, we established primary objectives for the website: to create an engaging user experience, facilitate easy navigation through educational materials, streamline the product purchasing process, and cultivate a sense of community among users. This phase involved developing wireframes and prototypes to visualize the site’s structure, ensuring that each element served the overarching goal of supporting and inspiring the homesteading community.
